Gloria And Emilio Estefan Are Opening A Restaurant At Margaritaville And Closing Bongos At Disney Springs

Grammy Award-winning musicians Gloria and Emilio Estefan are opening a second Estefan Kitchen this fall at Kissimmee’s Margaritaville Resort Orlando and closing Bongos Cuban Café at Disney Springs.

The Cuban American power couple already has an Estefan Kitchen open in Miami, where they serve Cuban dishes with a modern twist like vaca frita hash, chicken croqueta flatbread, Cuban-style fried rice and tostones rellenos. They even have a “Café Con Leche Martini,” which looks pretty cool.

Sanford’s Historic Mayfair Hotel Set For 2021 Opening After $30M Renovation

The investment group that two years ago announced plans to renovate and enlarge Sanford’s historic Mayfair Inn, is finally ready to move forward with the project.

Key Performance Hospitality Management recently submitted engineering and site plans for the project to the city. Based in Sanford, KPHM plans to invest an estimated $30 million to restore and enlarge the 94-year-old building into a 130-room, boutique hotel, unlike anything else in Central Florida.

Elevation Teaming Up With California Developer For New Apartments Near Reunion

Orlando-based Elevation Development paid $5.175 million this week for nearly 30 acres near Reunion and has partnered with a California multifamily developer to build a luxury apartment complex there.

“Reunion is one of the hottest growth areas in Central Florida, so that’s what attracted us to the site,” Principal Owais Khanani told GrowthSpotter. Plus, the site is just over the county line in Polk County, where impact fees are about half of what they would be in Osceola County.

Still Most Visited Place, Orlando Had 75 Million Visitors

Orlando had 75 million visitors last year as the theme park mecca continued to be the most visited destination in the United States, tourism officials said Thursday.

Orlando in 2018 had 68.5 million domestic visitors, a year-to-year increase of 4.1%, and almost 6.5 million international visitors, a year-to-year increase of 5.4%.

Meritage Homes Signs On To Build New Subdivision In Cagan Crossings

The management company behind the booming Cagan Crossings multifamily development in the Four Corners area of Lake County is getting into the detached single-family housing game, with plans for a 323-lot subdivision across U.S. Highway 27 from the apartment village.

The residential subdivision, which will also carry the Cagan Crossings banner, will sit on 149 acres tucked behind a Wal-Mart Supercenter and Lowe’s Home Improvement Center accessible by Cagan Crossings Boulevard.

Tavistock Adding Marriott Flag To Lake Nona Market

Tavistock Development Company has expanded and revealed the name of the hotel planned for its Publix-anchored Lake Nona Creekside shopping center on Boggy Creek Road just south of Orlando International Airport.

The Lake Nona master developer amended its Orange County Development Plan on Monday, expanding the hotel room count from 120 to 156. The plans also identify the now 6-story hotel as Marriott select-service SpringHill Suites. Tavistock has dedicated an entire 1-acre outparcel for surface parking lot to accommodate the larger hotel.

Olive Garden Debuts New-Look Restaurant This Week In Orlando

Olive Garden is opening a new restaurant in Orlando this week with a dramatically different design than its other locations.

The restaurant near Orlando Fashion Square mall at 3675 E. Colonial Drive features wood floors and trim, exposed brick, asymmetric angles and funky colors that are a big change from even the restaurant’s newest restaurants designs. Outside, it features a mix of old world stone, metal trim and soaring glass windows.
